Thursday was the hottest day we've seen in 16 years. But while temperatures may be passing 96 degrees outside, there are some places that are soaring well past that.
"It's not unheard of to have a locked car in a matter of minutes go from the 90 degrees to 110, 120, 130 degrees," says Albany County Executive Michael Breslin.
That's why it's important to not leave children or pets behind. The Albany County Sheriff's Office says if you see an offender, don't hesitate to take action.
"At this point call 911," says Acting Sheriff Craig Apple. "We've had some really hot days leading into today and and we have a couple more coming so it's only going to get worse."
What about working in this weather? FOX23 News spoke with one National Grid employee who says putting on all the required equipment and clothing can get uncomfortably hot.
"I'm already sitting here sweating," says Steve Blydenburgh. "I haven't done anything physical except put on my gear."
The hottest place FOX23 found was the airport tarmac.
"The temperature on the ramp right now is 135 degrees," says Airport Fire Department Chief Dave Cook. "If we have a fuel spill from an aircraft, we'll have to foam the area because it's too hot. Jet fuel, the flash point is 100 degrees."
At the end of the day, we only found one person who wasn't complaining.
"I grew up down south," says Justin Lyman, with US Airways. "So I got used to it growing up."
