TROY N.Y. -The vigil for 16-year-old Eshane Walker was held in Troy Sunday, hundreds were in attendance.

The vigil was held at 447 Second Avenue in Troy, the same location officers were called to late Friday night for the stabbing of Walker. An unidentified witness and Troy neighbor says she saw the incident occur.

"I just went to go get a sub and I heard arguing. So, I walked to the gate by CVS and there was a bunch of kids and one kid walked away. Next thing you know someone stabbed him in his back or side, kids scattered and he fell to the ground,” said the witness.

The woman says she immediately called 911 after she realized what had happened.

Walker was at a party when stabbed, the homeowner where the party was held says the party was supervised, and there was no alcohol.

According to police, Walker later died from injuries at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Tyronda Walker, the mother of the victim, says she doesn't understand the senseless act of violence that ended up taking her son's life.

Walker says her son was a great student who loved his time at Troy High School.

Among the balloons flower and candles there were also t-shirts made in Eshane’s memory.

Walker's 13-year-old sister Tania recalled times she spent with her older brother.

"Everybody loved my brother. He never had really enemies. I don't understand why they do it. I guess they do it for fun or something," said the young girl.

Police are still looking for more information on the incident. So far there are no leads to any suspects in the case.
