ALBANY, N.Y. -- The New York State Department of Transportation has advised motorists that at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 21, the Exit 4B off ramp from Interstate 787 in downtown Albany will be closed to traffic.
As part of the ongoing $21 million I-787 rehabilitation project, crews will work to rehabilitate the ramp through the summer until its expected completion in September.
There will be a signed detour route to direct traffic to take Exit 4A (Colonie Street), then take a right onto Columbia Street, to a right onto Broadway, then back to the Clinton/Broadway intersection at the base of the closed ramp. The DOT also suggests that commuters use Exit 3B (Madison Avenue) to access downtown as an alternate option.
The DOT has advised that the ramp closure is expected to impact traffic and suggested motorists use alternate routes when possible or allow for additional travel time to access the downtown area.
