ALBANY N.Y. – According to officials a body floating near the shoreline south of the Rensselaer boat launch in the Hudson River was noticed by a kayaker who was fishing Monday morning.

Police recovered a male body floating near the Corning Preserve’s riverbank.

The victim was identified as 57-year-old Brian Sansone of Rensselaer.

It took authorities quite some time to remove the body from the wooded area, where Fire officials believe the corpse washed ashore.

Fishing poles were found near the scene, but police would not confirm they belonged to the man.

This case is currently under investigation.

Circumstances surrounding Mr. Sansone's death, and if police are treating this as a suspicious has yet to be revealed.

An autopsy is being performed in hopes of giving police some more clues.
