ALBANY N.Y. – The kickoff of Albany’s 66th will begin Friday at noon with the Dutch Street Scrubbing.

The Street Scrubbing was a tradition in the Netherlands where streets were scrubbed prior to a celebration. Since tulip Fest is all about celebrating Albany's Dutch Heritage, it is a perfect way to kick off the festivities. This event takes place on State and Lodge Street.

Following the street scrubbing is the Tulip Festival luncheon. The luncheon is a welcoming ceremony for this year's Tulip Queen Finalists, and a farewell to the 2013 Queen and her court.

If you plan on attending the events today and throughout the rest of the weekend, make yourself aware of the parking restrictions and road closures by checking our website
