ALBANY N.Y. –The kick off for Albany Public Housing Authority’s Summer Food Service Program is to occur Wednesday morning.

This program is set up to make sure that while students are out of school, they are still able to receive an adequate meal. These meals are free and available for all students who are 18-years-old and under.

Organizers say the meals served at the various sites will prevent hunger and make a difference in communities all over the state.

The Summer Food Service Program is a federally funded program administered by the state's education department.

About 400-thousand children a day statewide will be receiving these meals throughout the summer.

A recent study shows there was an increase in students participating in last year's program. The state is trying to spread word of the program to all eligible students.

This year Albany will have 18 different locations where they will be serving meals throughout the summer.

Would someone please explain to me why any kid over the age of 14 is unable to fee themselves breakfast? They can't prepare a simple bowl of cereal for themselves? Really,,,this is why taxes are so high in this country...parents are responsible for feeding their children...step up to the plate.
