EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – Officials in East Greenbush are interested in a Las Vegas-style casino in the town if they can see a proposal.
The Saratoga Casino and Raceway has abandoned its efforts to bring a casino to the Spa City. It is now pushing for one in East Greenbush.
The casino said in a statement it “intends to pursue a bid for a destination casino license in East Greenbush.”
East Greenbush Town Supervisor Keith Langley issued a statement in response stating, “It’s still early, and we are looking to see what details and plans are presented.”
Langley said the amount of guaranteed revenue would be between $5 and 7 million annually which would help the town’s financial issues.
Meanwhile, John Signor with Capital OTB is still planning to move ahead with his proposal to bring a casino to Albany off of Exit 23.
$11.4 million would be given in annual aid to the community that wins the bid for a casino. The deadline to submit an application for consideration is April 23 along with million dollar fees.
