Local D-Day veterans honored seven decades later

LATHAM, N.Y. – Honored Sunday were Local veterans of the D-Day invasion.

June 6 will mark the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.

During the fourth annual program at the Holiday Inn Express Latham, people gathered to pay tribute to the survivors who were among the courageous men that landed on the beaches of Normandy.

Frank DeSorbo said honoring the vets is something he set out to do four years ago.

“What’s really important is that they are the living history, they are characters and have characters that we should never forget,” he said.

DeSorbo honors heroes who changed the course of history seven decades ago, as they marked the end of World War II and the beginning of the defeat against Nazi Germany. That is a time that many of the veterans, who are in their nineties, remember well.
