I hope that someone in the Dept of Health is monitoring these "alternative treatments." When there is a condition like Lyme disease that defies precise diagnosis and for which conventional antibiotic treatment is only partially successful….the void is filled by homeopathy, charlatanism, placebos etc. I know the Germans have proposed everything from massive doses of salt to galvanic stimulation machines - therapies reminiscent of alchemy in the Middle Ages or the laetrile treatments for leukemia at the end of the 20th. Desperate people will try anything and need protection from those quick to profit from such desperation.
