BETHLEHEM, N.Y. – A Level 1 sex offender was arrested on child pornography charges, police said.
According to the Bethlehem Police Department, detectives arrested Robert McCoy, 55, on Tuesday.
The arrest came after an investigation into a report that McCoy was in possession of pornographic images that he took, of children under 11-years-old.
Based on the investigation, authorities were able to execute a search warrant at McCoy’s Selkirk home and an abandoned camper off of Route 9W and Wemple Road in Glenmont. Police say the photos were taken in the camper.
While executing the search warrants, McCoy was located and he was arrested.
McCoy is a Level 1 registered sex offender, after a Federal conviction for possession of child pornography in 2009.
On Tuesday he was charged with felony counts of use of a child in a sexual performance and promoting a sexual performance by a child, as well as a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child. He has been arraigned in the Town of Bethlehem Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail.
Bethlehem Detectives believe that there may be more local victims that McCoy photographed.
Detectives are asking anyone who has had contact with McCoy, or whose children may have visited him at his two properties, to call authorities at 518-439-3373.
