SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Saratoga Springs Police Department has apprehended the man suspected of making a threats Tuesday to harm a Skidmore College student and then himself, the college announced Wednesday morning.
Police say they cannot talk about the incident, but are expected to release details throughout the day.
The college remained in lock down until early Wednesday morning, according to the school's Campus Safety Department as a precaution.
As of 11 p.m. Tuesday evening, all persons and vehicles attempting to enter the Skidmore property were being stopped from entering, with the exception of students with valid identification.
A heavy police presence remained on campus throughout the evening.
Saratoga Springs Police originally believed that 49-year-old Lance C. Leonard, of Cuttyhunk, Massachusetts, left Saratoga Springs area and may be traveling outside the state, in the New Jersey area.
Police are currently in the process of obtaining an arrest warrant for the suspect and continue to work with authorities in Massachusetts as well as other locations for assistance in locating Leonard.
Leonard made no mention of a specific weapon in his threat, but police still say he should not be approached and should be considered potentially dangerous.
