GLEN FALLS, N.Y. – Glens Falls Police have confirmed an arrest has been made after an investigation into the suspicious death of a dog.
Police say Matthew D. Wisell, 28, of Glens Falls was arrested on Friday afternoon. He has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty, which falls under the NYS agriculture and market law section 353, also known as Buster's Law.
Wisell is currently waiting to be arraigned on Saturday morning in Glens Falls City Court.
On April 3, the small, tan, mixed designer breed was found near the shore line of Havilands Cove Beach. The dog was two to four years of age, and its muzzle and legs were bound. Police said it appeared as though the dog may have drowned.
"The condition it was found; it was malicious intent, and somebody obviously murdered this animal," Detective Sergeant Peter Casterino with the Glens Falls Police Department said.
A $500 reward was offered for anything leading to the arrests of anyone responsible in the case.
