ALBANY, N.Y. – State Police have identified the man who was struck and killed by a tractor trailer Sunday evening on the Thruway.

According to authorities, David Miller, 28, died when he was hit by the vehicle on I-87 at mile marker 143 in Albany. Police say the accident happened around 10 p.m. on Sunday.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that Miller was alone in the center of three southbound lanes when he was fatally struck.

The operator of the truck, a 40-year-old man from Freeville, New York, is not facing charges, say police. However, the investigation is ongoing.

Miller’s body was removed by the Albany County Coroner and transported to Albany Medical Center.

State Police, Albany Fire Department, Mohawk Ambulance, and Thruway Authority immediately responded to the scene.
