The cause of a fatal plane crash that happened in August 2012 has been released by The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
The board says the probable cause of the accident was total loss of engine power. However, the reason the engine power failed could not be determined during the investigation.
On August 15, 2012 a small plane crash in Clifton Park, killing one instantly and injuring another, who later died. Troy businessman, 67 year old Walter Uccellini, died on impact. The 68 year old pilot of the Beechcraft plane, James Quinn, was in critical condition after the crash but succumbed to his injuries 2 later.
Quinn notified air traffic control about lost engine power as the plane reached 800 feet above the ground. Quinn then made a forced landing, but hit trees on the way down and came about 1,000 feet short off an open field.
The men were heading to Plattsburgh for business, according to police.
