ALBANY, N.Y. – The “Build Back Better: New York Rising Storm Recovery Conference” is taking place in Albany today and will be hosted by Governor Cuomo.
The conference will focus on the launch of Cuomo’s New York Rising Communities program. The program is designed to empower New Yorkers who have been hit by extreme weather events the past two years.
Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm severely damaged parts of New York State, and these areas are still cleaning up after the aftermath of these storms. Cuomo’s program will encourage residents to redesign their communities, identify ways to strengthen their resiliency, and contribute to New York’s effort to build back better and smarter in the face of future extreme weather events.
Cuomo will be joined by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan as well as local officials and planners from communities affected by these major storms.
The conference starts at 11:30 a.m. in the Hart Theatre in the Egg Center for Performing Arts.
