ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany is one of many SUNY campuses to receiving funding in the 2014-2015 school year to prevent drug overdoses.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is spearheading an effort to provide $27,000 to 11 SUNY campuses, including UAlbany, in order to equip more police officers with naloxone.

Naloxone is a heroin antidote that can instantly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

UAlbany officers have already undergone training to administer naloxone and many officers on campus already carry the drug.
