It’s the first time a large group has been back in Academy Park since the chaos after Occupy Albany members were evicted from the park late last month.Saturday, there was a rally, a march, and a vigil in downtown Albany.
Occupiers want people to know they are still here, still strong and the movement will continue.
They insist they are different people all working towards one goal, “a better world.”
Occupier Ann Von Lingen says, “I work nine to five, I am a single mother, I work to support two young daughters, I pay taxes, I go to PTA, I am not the stereotype that has been cast about occupiers, that we don’t have jobs, that we're losers, it’s just not who we are.”
Occupiers say Saturday's event was to energize the group - and give people a chance to support the cause who haven’t before.
