SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – Police say one of the boys injured when a bounce house was yanked off the ground earlier this month is recovering at home.

The South Glens Falls Police department confirmed on Monday that the six year old who was injured during the incident has been recovering at home since May 15.

There are no new updates on the condition of the five year old.

Both victims were flown to Albany Medical Center from South Glens Falls, after they fell from an inflatable bounce house which was yanked at least 20 feet off the ground by a gust of wind.

Ross Loffler was one of the first responders on the scene the day the call came in for the bounce house. He is now helping to organize the first benefit for the two families affected by the tragedy.

"They have a pretty long road ahead of them," said Loffler.

Loffler has been distributing flyers which displays the names of both boys who were hurt.

One of the events to raise money is a car wash benefit will be held on Sunday, June 1 at the Station Two Fire House in South Glens Falls. There are other benefits that are still being planned.

"Basically trying to get some money raised up to help two little boys that were hurt," said Loffler.

The money will be split evenly between both families.

One girl was also in the bounce house but fell out quickly. She suffered minor scrapes and bruises. However, the boys suffered serious injuries, including head trauma.

Both boys are kindergarten students at Harrison Avenue Elementary.

Following the incident, the South Glens Falls Police Department said they want to make it clear that the parents and neighbors watching the children did everything they were supposed to do. They also say it looks like there will be no criminal charges filed against the owner as they described the incident as a freak accident.
