PITTSFIELD, Mass. – A teenager was injured after a shooting at a Shell station on Monday morning, police said.

According to Pittsfield Police, the shooting happened on Monday shortly before 9 a.m. Police received numerous reports of the shooting at the Shell Station on First and Tyler Streets.

"Heard 'pop, pop'. I was hoping it was firecrackers but I knew it wasn't," said witness Tom Reilly.

Reilly is the owner of Quillard Bros. Garage, which sits on the opposite side of Tyler Street. He says he saw the teenage victim.

The 17-year-old victim walked to a nearby EMT, who stopped his ambulance at the gas station for coffee. The teen pointed to the wound in his chest. He was treated and taken to Berkshire Medical Center where he underwent surgery.  He is expected to survive.

"He walked up to the lady and lifted his short and showed his stomach and she put him in the truck," said Reilly.

Upon arrival, Pittsfield Police officers, conducted an area search looking for two suspects who fled on foot. They were assisted by officers from the Berkshire County Sheriff and the Massachusetts State Police.

One juvenile male has been arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet off a dwelling.

Police say they have conducted a number of interviews and a house is under police guard at this time, as officers await a search warrant for evidence connected to this crime.

Although an arrest has been made in this case, at least two people are believed to have been involved.
