Parents begin shopping for school supplies

ALBANY, N.Y. – School will be back in session in about one month for Capital Region students, which means parents will be hitting the stores for school supply shopping.

Every parent knows how stressful it can be down the back to school aisles, which is why expert shoppers say now is the time to gather that list and consider shopping online.

Brenda Insero knows a thing or two about shopping for back to school supplies as she has seven children. Armed with a school supply list and her soon-to-be fifth grader by her side, Insero headed out to Target to fill up her cart.

“I like my kids to pick out what they’re going to use for rest of the year. I just feel like that’s something special I can do with them,” she said.

Ann Finnegan, a mother of two has a completely different approach than Insero, she uses the

“They’ve worked the list, they've got the right colors, right tabs, even hand sanitizers,” said Finnegan.

She bought her supplies for her son's fifth grade class on the website, which allows parents to pick their school. Parents are able to select a grade and purchase a pre-packed box of supplies that ship directly to their house.

Deciding whether to shop online or in-store is a matter of preference as both offer supplies that come to about the same price.
