TROY, N.Y. - Troy Police have charged a man with driving while intoxicated after he allegedly struck a 27-year-old pregnant woman crossing the street, then fled the scene on Friday night.

Police say 58-year-old Thomas Di Bell, of Albany, was traveling westbound on 116th Street and took a left turn onto 2nd Avenue around 9 p.m., striking a pregnant female pedestrian walking across the street in the crosswalk.

The woman was taken to Albany Medical Center with unknown injuries after the accident.

Witnesses who observed the accident pointed Di Bell out to responding officers.

Di Bell was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene, both misdemeanors, failure to use designated lane, failure to exercise due care and refusal to take breath test.
