SCHENECTADY N.Y. – Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Schenectady Friday.

The shooting occurred just after 1:30 a.m. at 1231 Main Street in Mont Pleasant.

The victim, 28-year old Angel M. Carrion, died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police do not have any suspects in custody at this time, but detectives spent the entire day scouring the crime scene.

Neighbors say they woke up after hearing multiple gunshots, and friends of the victim say his death is shocking and unexpected.

“I couldn't believe it. It brought tears to my eyes. He was a good friend, he was a good father. He helped out the community. Nobody is perfect in thus world, but he didn't deserve this. That's one thing he didn't deserve,” said childhood friend Jorge Colon.
