SCHENECTADY N.Y. –Tuesday morning Proctors Theater in Schenectady will be removing their iconic State Street marquee so they can go digital.

Olson Signs & Graphics of Scotia originally installed the classic marquee in the 1980's. Tuesday Olson Signs & Graphics will be taking the marquee down and giving it the digital upgrade.

Proctor's marquee upgrade is a part of a $250,000 project funded by local historical committees.

The theaters renovations will also include repainting and adding insulation in front of the historic landmark.

The CEO of Proctors says the digital facelift will be a safer and greener way to get their message out. Previously employees had to go up on ladders and lifts to change event information.

Proctors signs are currently unlit; this is due to the removal of 1400 LED bulbs which occurred last week. These lights will soon be replaced with energy-saving bulbs once the renovations complete.

Enhancement of the Proctors marquee is expected to take about four to eight weeks.
