COXSACKIE, N.Y. - Frustrated and angry residents gathered in a town meeting on Monday night to discuss the brown water they are concerned about.
Some parents even brought pictures of their children bathing in murky water.
Residents like Jennifer Weinstein say Coxsackie has been plagued with the brown water problem since she was a child growing up in the town.
"I'm tired of having four weeks of dirty water," said Weinstein.
On Monday night, Mayor Mark Evans addressed the latest bout of brown, dirty water, which left stains on the Weinstein's laundry.
The town board even brought in a water consultant to illustrate how the water turns brown, but say it is still safe to drink.
"The brown water is a result of iron and manganese not being filtered out," said the water consultant.
"Every house in Coxsackie has a water cooler," said Weinstein.
Another angry resident in the town said "If the water is coming out red, brown, black, I don't care who you are, you're not going to convince me that water is safe to drink."
Mayor Evans said residents should no longer have to worry about brown water in the future.
