SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - A Rotterdam man charged in the double murder of a local mother and daughter inside their home pleaded guilty to the killings Tuesday morning.
Brice Rivenburgh, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder on Tuesday, admitting he broke into the Inner Drive home and strangled his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old Jessica McCormack, and her mother, 52-year-old Tammy McCormack, the morning of April 10, 2013.
Rivenburgh only said "yes" when the judge asked if he had intentionally killed his ex-girlfriend and her mother.
Investigators say he strangled the women and tried to make the crime look like it was a burglary gone bad.
In April, the Schenectady County District Attorney's Office handed up a 26-count
indictment against Rivenburgh
including four charges of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, rape, and sexual abuse in connection to the deaths of the women.
He faces 35 years to life in prison when sentenced in October.
