ALBANY, N.Y. -- Maneuvering any city street from 9 to 5 is sort of a challenge during the work week, but this weekend downtown Albany was transformed into an actual obstacle course.
Participants in the Urban Raid 5K started at the Times Union Center, ran past the Capitol to State Street, darted through Lincoln Park, and then ran back to the Center for an epic finish.
The ultimate obstacle course was fit for a superhero, with one man dressing as Captain America.
The race featured a two story cargo climb, marine hurdles, ropes, and the raid wall.
“It’s not just some mud pit in someone’s backyard,” said Parker Swenson, the event coordinator.
Organizers say with boot camps and cross-fit gaining more popularity, events like this help participants work their whole body.
As for Captain America, after a 5k race and then some, he says he feels like a superhero every day.
NEWS10ABC is looking forward to working with the city in getting 2015 plans in action.
