SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Saratoga Springs Police are expected to release more information Monday after they say a man was injured during a pursuit on foot with police early Saturday morning.
Around 3 a.m. on Saturday, police officers were on foot patrol on Caroline Street when they say they saw a male shove a female's head into a brick wall.
Officers then approached the man, identified at 21-year-old Darryl Mount Jr. of Malta, to take him into custody when he allegdly fled on foot.
Authorities say Mount ran south on Broadway into an alley on the north side of the Washington Building, at 422 Broadway.
Officers say they attempted to deploy a taser twice during the foot pursuit while in the alley, but failed and did not make contact with Mount.
Police say Mount then continued to run behind the Washington Building into the construction area, out of sight of the officers. Officers then conducted an area check, and according to authorities, Mount was found unconscious on a sidewalk between Gaffney's and Izumi Bar and Grill.
Emergency medical crews assisted Mount before he was transported to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries.
Saratoga Springs Police Chief Gregory Veitch says investigators are following up on a few leads and "it would be premature for me to release additional information."
More information is expected to be released Monday afternoon. NEWS10 is following up on this story.
