SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Expanded wi-fi was one of the nearly $2 million worth of new features at Saratoga for the 2014 season.
The New York Racing Association said the track’s bandwidth has been quadrupled from last year meaning more people can go online and connect with social media or try their luck on the races.
Charles Lombard used a tablet to place a bet at the track Friday.
“You don’t have to get in line rushing to get your bet in,” he said. “The technology’s right in your hand, and I don’t have to move from my seat. I can watch the race right on TV or go down and watch it live at the track. Whatever I want to do. It’s awesome. I’ve been doing this for, like, 50 years now. I’m fired up this year. I’m all happy.”
To place bets on a smartphone or tablet, apply to be a NYRA Rewards member on the Saratoga Race Course website or sign up in person at one of the booths at the track.
