SCHENECTADY, N.Y.— Mayor Gary McCarthy is powering up a new effort to help the city’s businesses enter the digital age.

The Mayor announced a new partnership with Google’s “Get your business online” program Thursday.

The program provides small businesses with domain names and other resources free for a year to get started.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and this Program is part of Schenectady’s commitment to helping our small local businesses succeed,” said Mayor McCarthy.

“We are reaching out to our small businesses in our community to make sure they are aware of this great program and help them through the process,” said Councilman Edward Kosiur.

Mayor McCarthy laid out the details of the partnership Thursday morning at the future site of canvas, Corks and Forks, on Union Street.
