QUEENSBURY, N.Y. - A 31-year-old sex offender in Warren County has been arrested for allegedly having contact with young boys and spending the night at a hotel with them.
The Sheriff's Office arrested Curtis Mallon, of 18 Burdick Avenue, Warrensburg, on August 21st for a violation of probation warrant. Police say he was found to have been in the company of a 15-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy and spent the night with the boys at a Lake George hotel. The boys were acquainted with Mallon, however both believed he was 18-years old and knew him under the name of "Joe Tadbit."
Mallon is barred from having contact with children under the age of 17, due to his level three sex offender status from a sexual abuse arrest involving a 9-year-old boy in 2006.
Police say he was then arrested on August 26th following further investigation for the felony of failing to register his social network profile with the Sheriff's Office. He was found to have used the alias of "Joe Tadbit" and he had been communicating with juvenile males through Facebook.
Police also arrested Mallon's mother, 60-year-old Darlene Mallon, of Queensbury, for allegedly providing her son and young boys transportation to various locations, at the time she knew her son was barred from having contact with juveniles.
Darlene Mallon was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and remanded to the Correctional Facility for lack of $1,000 cash bail.
Curtis Mallon has been remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility.
The investigation is ongoing and police believe that Mallon likely had contact with several other juvenile boys. Anyone with information regarding Mallon or "Joe Tadbit" is asked to call the Sheriff's Investigator Mo Aldrich at (518) 743-2500.
