ALBANY, N.Y. – A large rally is expected to be held in front of the Capitol as hundreds of students, parents and educators gather on Tuesday.
Those attending are in Albany on the behalf of three charter schools. The mayor of New York City had recently decided to keep them from using space in public school buildings.
Organizers have brought students from 22 charter schools to Albany, calling it the largest civic field trip in history. They hope to have their case heard by the legislature and the governor.
This is one of several events involving education on Tuesday. The assembly is expected to take up the bill delaying the Common Core Standards.
Advocates for universal Pre-K are also at the Capitol.
