With lots of curious onlookers, and many local roads shut down, the owner of Circles high end boutique at Stuyvesant Plaza wasn't quite sure what to expect.

But, Sharon Fenno was certainly clear about what she wanted.

She was hoping the president himself would make a stop at Circles to shop.

Her locally owned store sells a line of Lucite jewelry made by Alexis Bittar.

It's a brand Fenno says First Lady Michelle Obama is known to wear often.

Much to the shop owners' dismay, the President did not stop at Circles to buy his wife a gift, and in fact, she says in the end, business was pretty slow.

Fenno said, "I think the store is a little bit quieter today. I had one customer who lives to the west of us say that she was going to come this afternoon, and then did not because President Obama was here. So I think it may have impacted business a little bit, but that's okay. It was still exciting to have him here."

Circles' owner said, in the end, it was worth giving up a few sales to be able to say the President was right up the street.
