A teen last seen at a party in Saratoga Springs on Saturday night is still missing.
He was last seen in the area of Church Street.
Key pieces of evidence, including a sock, have since been found, but so far, crews have been unable to locate Alexander Grant of Briarcliff in Westchester County.
Because there are still so many questions, just about the only thing certain about this case, is that Saratoga Police are searching for a missing 19-year-old in need of medical attention.
The rainy, icy, snowy weather we experienced in the Capital Region overnight has made the hunt for clues quite difficult.
New York State Forest Rangers are working with dozens of trained volunteers. Among the unpaid workers helping out are crews from the Lower Adirondack Search and Rescue Team, and 'Team 51.'
Each volunteer worked through the day using, snow shoes, walkie talkies, GPS and old fashioned sweat and teamwork.
Ranger Chuck Kabrehl said, "The snow is at least thigh deep almost waist deep in places. It's slow going and difficult to spot any 'sign' being that the snow just stopped this morning."
But, despite the obstacles, search crews have found several clues. Police say Grant was caught on surveillance cameras breaking into the front of the office building at 3 Care Lane in Saratoga at exactly 1:15am on Sunday. Not long after the discovery of the footage, detectives located Grant's pants, identification, and a single sock nearby.
Lt. Gregory Veitch said, "It should be noted that when he broke into the building he was wearing only a pair of shorts a long sleeved shirt and one of his socks. I really don't want to speculate as to why he may not have had his clothing on, again there are some theories that we're working under that I really don't want to get into at this point."
Saratoga Police say Grant can be seen on the surveillance video leaving the office building at 2am on Sunday, but after that, no one knows what happened. Increasing the urgency of the case, is the amount of blood found at the scene.
"There is a chance he may have been injured prior to entering the office building, he definitely was injured while making entry," Lt. Veitch said.
So, search and rescue crews are pressing on, looking for anything that could lead them down the right path.
"It's an awful lot of work, and it means a lot that people are willing to volunteer their time," Ranger Kabrehl said.
Lt. Veitch says nothing was missing from the office building on Care Lane, and, other than the front window, nothing was vandalized. In fact, authorities say they're not ruling out the possibility that the 19-year-old may have gone inside just to get warm.
