ALBANY, N.Y. – Despite a long winter and slow start to Spring, organizers are getting ready for Tulip Fest.

“It’s really just a wonderful way to get Albany out to the community and to visitors just to kind of show them this is what we’re all about,” special events coordinator Jason Bonafide said.

The 66th annual Albany Tulip Fest will take place next weekend. The festival celebrates Albany’s Dutch heritage and more.

“It’s beautiful. I like the multi colors, and I take pictures of it close ups and then we go back and view them,” Albany resident Kyoshi Mansfield said. “It’s just beautiful just how mother nature paints these flowers , and they do a great job setting them up and everything.”

Bonafide said the weather will be pretty close to perfect for the festival.

“It seems like things are going really well,” he said. “We’ve had weird weather the last few years, so this is kinda a relief for us that things are back to normal. It looks like we will have everything up just in time for the festival. We’re expanding our green market area this year which is a focus on sustainable living and recycling tips.”

Bonafide said he expects over 80,000 people to attend the Tulip Fest.
