ALBANY, N.Y. – Police are investigating two separate shootings which occurred less than 12 hours apart from each other.
According to Albany Police, on Friday around 5:30 p.m., authorities were notified by staff from Albany Medical Center about a male who entered the emergency room with a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, officers were told by the victim that he was sitting in a vehicle on Cortland Place in the area of Spring Street when a male, unknown to the victim, approached the vehicle. The 24-year-old Albany man told police that the suspect demanded property from the victim's car. The suspect fired a shot from the handgun which struck the victim's back.
Police say the victim sustained a superficial wound. He was treated at the hospital and released.
On Saturday around 1:30 a.m., Albany Medical Center staff notified police about another man that walked into the emergency with a gunshot wound.
As officers arrived to the scene, the victim told them that he was walking on the 300 block of Second Street when an unknown type vehicle approached him and someone shot at him.
The victim is a 25-year-old male from Troy. He sustained a single gunshot wound to the arm and is listed in stable condition.
