They met at the corner of Washington Avenue and Quail Street with a plan to clean up the Pine Hills neighborhood block by block.
"I came out today, kind of an informal apology to the community for the actions of a few students," says UAlbany student Jessica Poulin.
The parade day riot left a bad taste not just with the community, but for UAlbany students that weren't even around that day.
"I was actually shocked," says UAlbany student Kendra Harrell-Vigil. "Seeing everything on the news and all the videos, I was really embarrassed for the school."
UAlbany President George Philip came out to help clean up. He assured action is being taken. Those involved face expulsion and future spring breaks will be rescheduled, so students won't be here on parade day. And, the university is even considering cancelling Fountain Day.
"We do have some students that unfortunately under the influence of alcohol that none of us would condone," Philip says. "And we are acting accordingly."
And students that came out Friday say they too are acting accordingly...leading by example.
"We're going to own up to it and clean up the mess," says UAlbany student Justin Waxjacobs.
"I like being a part of this community," Poulin says. "And I want to show that by cleaning up."
