TROY, N.Y. – The Tri-City ValleyCats are four wins away from defending their 2013 championship title.
The Cats will face the Connecticut Tigers in Game One of the New York-Penn League semifinals Wednesday night. The Tigers have won four straight games leading into the playoffs.
“With the series being as short as they are this year with two-three game series, there’s not much time to fall behind and play catch up, you know,” ValleyCats pitcher Joe Musgrove said. “You lost that first one, you gotta win back-to-back games, and so that first game is definitely huge to get under our belt.”
“A loss wouldn’t be good because it puts a lot of pressure on you to win the next two but being at home, I think that’ll help a lot,” catcher Jamie Ritchie said.
