LANSINGBURGH, N.Y. – Family and friends held a candlelight vigil Thursday night to keep the memory of Vanessa Milligan alive.

Milligan and her unborn child were found dead in a fire in April 2014. Police ruled it a double homicide.

Friends and family gathered in front of her house Thursday to pay respects and support one another. They said they still have unanswered questions but just want the community to know Milligan is not forgotten.

“She wanted to make an impact,” friend Ashleigh Searles said. “I mean obviously she should be here with us but now that she’s gone it should be a lesson, an impact, and it shouldn’t be happening at all.”

The family is also planning a “Stop the Violence” walk in Troy on August 23.
