ALBANY, N.Y. – More than 50 veterans were welcomed back home on Saturday evening after they were part of the largest honor flight to date.

The veterans who were returning on Saturday had smiles on their faces and were grateful to see the memorial in Washington D.C. However, it seemed they were even more grateful for the grand send off and welcome back that they had at the Albany International Airport.

The area veterans, many in their 80’s and 90’s, made their journey on the honor flight Saturday morning. They returned to a full salute from the Patriot Guard Riders and cheers from family and friends who couldn't wait to hear about their memorable day at their memorial.

World War II veterans Jane McCauley and Stuart Yorkshire say it's a day they will cherish and it reinforces their choice to serve our country.
