It all started around 6:15 in the morning on the Gold's Gym surveillance tape. The man officials says is Chad Brothers runs out the door and another gym member follows close behind, appearing to be upset about something.
Brothers comes back inside just moments later, passed by the man and heads toward a clothes rack that he knocks over.
Throughout the video Brothers can be seen lifting heavy pieces of equipment as if they weighed nothing. Other gym members move quickly to get out of the way as he knocks equipment over piece by piece.
At one point Brothers looks extremely calm, walking out of the gym again, then gets a burst of energy as he runs back in.
Right around 6:20 a.m. on the tape the first officer comes in and heads toward Brothers, out of the security cameras view. In the far corner you can see some movement but the camera shows nothing else. Colonie police say the first officer reports her taser was deployed at 6:22. Other officers come in for backup moments later, EMT's follow shortly after.
Back in December the District Attorney's office determined Brothers didn't die at the hands of police, but as a result of the medical condition agitated delirium. They said he was "under the influence of life threatening substances."
Police Chief Steve Heider had confirmed for FOX23 News that the toxicology report showed that PCP and steroids were those life threatening substances.
We did reach out to Brothers' family, they did not wish to comment. Shortly after the incident they told FOX23 News that this did not sound like the man they loved. They told us Brothers was a gentle, generous man. They had wanted to see this video because they felt there was more to the story.
