SCHENECTADY, N.Y.— A special ceremony took place at the VFW Post in Schenectady on Saturday.

The ceremony celebrated the return of dog tags to the family of World War II Veteran Frank Strosz.

Kara Hermance, Strosz’s daughter, was at the event to receive the dog tags.

“I figured they were gone forever,” she said.

Strosz was from Amsterdam, his dog tags were found several years ago by a Pattersonville couple. The couple, along with help from a friend and some research, tracked down Strosz’s family.

“I kept wondering, ‘where did the dog tags go?’” said Hermance.

The couple got in contact with Hermance this past winter, which lead them to Saturday at the VFW Post where the dog tags were returned home.

“Everytime I’ll look at them I’ll think of my dad and all of the fun we had,” said Hermance.
