SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – After more than 30 years of service, the Schenectady Fire Chief will retire Thursday.

Fire Chief Michael Della Rocco joined the Schenectady Fire Department in 1975 and became an officer in 1983. He was appointed Fire Chief in April 2011.

Della Rocco will be honored by Mayor Gary McCarthy and current and retired members of the Schenectady Fire Department during a Walk Out Ceremony at the fire department headquarters at 10 a.m.

A new chief has not been selected, yet, but it will be up to McCarthy to make that decision.
