Woman killed in Guilderland crash

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – A 78-year-old woman was killed in a three-car crash in Guilderland Friday afternoon.

Police the collision happened on Western Avenue in front of Hamilton Square Plaza shortly after 2 p.m. when 83-year-old William R. Dollard, of Guilderland, turned his vehicle into the path of 79-year-old Madolyne O.Palmer, of Oneonta, as she drove eastbound on Western Avenue.

Dollard’s car then spun to hit a third vehicle being driven by 62-year-old Daniel D. Moore III, of Rensselaer, before crossing over Western Avenue until it settled in an embankment.

Dollard and Palmer were taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Gertrude Dollard was a passenger in Dollard’s vehicle at the time of the crash. She suffered traumatic injuries and was also taken to Albany Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed in this crash.
