THATCHER, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say the body of a 3-year-old girl has been found buried in the backyard of a southeastern Arizona home.
Arizona Department of Child Safety spokeswoman Jennifer Bowser-Richards said Friday that an investigation of two young boys left alone in a Thatcher motel led to the discovery.
KGUN-TV reports (http://bit.ly/VTYAJG) a Graham County probation officer found the children June 26.
The officer had been looking for 23-year-old Joshua Matthew Cisneros, who is dating the boys' mother, 28-year-old Anna Marie Sanchez.
Officials say the investigation found that a sister had been missing since March 2012.
Authorities found the body Wednesday and are now awaiting autopsy results.
They are treating it as a homicide.
Cisneros and Sanchez are currently being jailed on unrelated charges.
