LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) — A tow vehicle on the ground hit the nose of a parked jet at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport over the weekend, an American Airlines official said Monday.
American said the 119 passengers who were on Flight 140 to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport were put onto other flights after the incident Sunday afternoon.
Officials said the five-person crew was on the jet during boarding for the flight to Texas when the ground crew was hooking a tow bar to the front gear. Investigators are trying to determine why the vehicle hit the landing gear and nose cone containing radar equipment.
The MD-80 was removed from service.
American officials said a contract worker was treated for a minor knee injury.
