WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles authorities on Monday said that the 20-year-old son of actor Robert Downey, Jr. has been released on bail after he was arrested with what deputies believe was cocaine.
The Los Angeles Sheriff's Office said Indio Falconer Downey was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after a car he was in was pulled over in West Hollywood. Downey was then booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, believed to be cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, authorities said.
Two other people were in the car but only Downey was arrested.
The actor's son was released shortly after 9 p.m. local time on $10,250 bail, and a court date was set for Aug. 29.
Downey appeared in the 2005 movie "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," which starred his father. An email sent to Robert Downey Jr.'s publicist was not immediately returned.
Robert Downey, Jr. made headlines himself during the 1990s for multiple drug arrests. He entered rehabilitation programs on several occasions to kick his habits and once told a judge, "It's like I have a loaded gun in my mouth and my finger is on the trigger. And I like the taste of gun metal."
