WEST VALLEY CITY, UT.- Police have arrested a woman accused of driving over a small child in a stroller, then fleeing the scene.
21-year-old Kimberly Munoz was taken into custody Monday after police received a tip from her ex-boyfriend's family Sunday night. The family members said they had information about the fatal hit-and-run. The ex-boyfriend was later interviewed.
"He basically told us about Kimberly," said West Valley City Police Sgt. Jason Hauer. "She did admit to investigators that she was the driver and she's the one who left the scene."
Munoz told investigators she fled because she was scared.
On June 10, Angela Barnett was crossing a highway in a suburb of Salt Lake City with her two children- daughter Serrena, 9, and son Gavyn, 2. When she reached the midway point, a car on the inside lane stopped to allow her to continue. The stroller, carrying 2-year-old Gavyn Barnett, was struck as she pushed it into the next lane.
The boy later died from his injuries.
