Rochester, N.Y. - A new Siena Poll on the 25th Congressional District race shows Democratic incumbent Louise Slaughter regained a double digit lead over Republican Maggie Brooks -- 52 to 42 percent.

Of those polled, 97 percent say they are "absolutely certain," or "fairly certain," that their votes will not change by Election Day.

The polls also revealed a shift in each candidate's "unfavorable" rating with voters.  That could be due to the numerous attack ads each campaign has aired or even those attacks from outside groups.

A September a similar Siena College Poll showed that 66% of Republicans had an unfavorable opinion of Democrat Louise Slaughter.  That number jumped to 73% in this most recent poll.

For Brooks it was 67% of Democrats who held an unfavorable opinion of her in September.  This poll showed an increase to 75%

One thing that was event split among voters and candidates is who was running the most negative campaign.  31% of those polled said Slaughter, 32% said Brooks, and 26% said both.

Wednesday night, the two went after each other about the negative tone of the campaign ads.

That debate was the last between the two before next week's election.
