NEW YORK (AP) - A 78-year-old cancer survivor was moved to tears upon discovering that her Superstorm-Sandy damaged New York home had been rebuilt by volunteers.

The Daily News reports (http://nydn.us/12T1V88 ) more than 100 volunteers spent hours cleaning, painting and refurbishing Barbara Joyce's bungalow in Breezy Point, Queens.

The home was flooded with three feet of water that destroyed the electrical systems and ruined all of Joyce's furniture.

The repair work cost about $40,000. It sponsored by the nonprofit group Operation Blessing and Bank of America.

Joyce has lived in hotels and at friends' homes since the storm. She says she feels "blessed" by the kindness of strangers.
