TROY, N.Y. – The Astros outfielder will be playing with the Tri-City ValleyCats for a few days.
Alex Presley is in the Capital Region for a couple days to play with the ValleyCats, but it’s not his first trip to the area.
“I kind of had a déjà vu when I was coming,” he said. “When I was driving from the airport I got to a certain spot, and I was like, ‘I feel like I’ve been here before.’”
Presley playing in the New York-Penn League with Williamsport in 2006 and came through the Capital Region for two games in July. That was the year Presley was drafted, so he doesn’t remember playing at The Joe, but after five years in the major leagues, he’s back under much different circumstances – to rehab a strained right oblique.
“The goal is to get through the games performing at full speed and come out feeling good,” he said. “I mean, timing is a big deal. I’d like to get that, but first and foremost I’d like to see how I’ll feel swinging in a game because you can swing in a cage all day and you get in the game, and it’s a different intensity, so I’m interested to see how that goes.”
Presley said he hopes not only to get some good swings in, but also to help the Cats win some games.
